Hi @RealEvilHRLady - you are more than welcome. I have never spotted a single grammatical error in the years I have been reading your <a href="http://evilhrlady.blogspot.com/"target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Evil HR Lady blog so have high hopes for your tweets!

@MartinCouzins - many thanks for your comments. There are many UK HR professionals who use LinkedIn, so hoping a few more will join Twitter. I agree with your comment about peer to peer networking which I have benefited from. For example, I needed to remember something about the functionality of Oracle HRMS version XYZ - I 'Googled' it, searched the Oracle web-site and sent out a Tweet. I got a tweet response in 5 mins, 'thats in v11.5" from someone who works on that system every day.

Great post, Andy (and thanks for *blushes* the mention!). Agree with all you say and like the fact you mention Linkedin - use your Linkedin profile picture - as there are many UK HR professionals in Linkedin groups.
A compelling reason to consider Twitter is that it enables peer to peer networking (in real time like a conversation) so HR professionals can look beyond their immediate working environment and talk with other like minded professionals who will have useful insights and experiences to share.
See you on the 29th.

Thanks for the advice. No matter what, though, I refuse to tweet in anything but grammatically correct sentences.

I hope I made no grammar errors in this comment.

@JobRich - thanks for the comments Rich, and for forwarding the original article on Twitter via @MervynDinnen
RGC Media - thanks for your comments. I agree that HR need to get to grips with developments in social media and also play a leadership role in harnessing the benefits to organisations. The social media guide (on slideshare) on your web-site home-page is very useful, thanks for sharing.

Great article, it really is key that HR departments get to grips with Twitter and other social media. A solid social media usage policy needs to be included in all employment contracts to ensure staff know where they stand and to advise and guide...

An excellent piece, I am celebrating my one year of being on Twitter Http://Twitter.com/JobRich and am planning a blog post. I saw this (thanks Mervyn) and agree wholeheartedly with what you have written. A different viewpoint but a good read. Cheers Rich
