Can someone please explain why Hewitt being submerged into AON is good for anyone bar the shareholders standing to make a windfall? The only people who seem to think the merger is a good thing, are those who get paid by the marketing departments of both the companies involved in the merger!

Hi Phil – thanks for the comments. From a purely HRO buyers perspective this doesn’t rate as wonderful news, it’s not as interesting on paper as Northgate Arsinso’s purchase of Convergys’ HRO business, however it’s just not a “sad, bad day for HRO”. With this merger, there are questions about future investment plans, the usual risks with mergers etc BUT Hewitt/AON is still open for HRO business and has plenty of cross sell opportunities. I think the multi-process HRO market is building-up steam and there will more twists and turns in this space!
